When I first started as a VA (Virtual Assistant), I assumed I would offer the same services/duties that I performed as an Office Manager/Administrative Assistant at the many companies that had employed me over the years. What I did not know was that failing to have a specialty or niche was the kiss of death in the VA world.
Within a few months, I learned quickly that I had better specialize or I was going to be left out in the cold and broke. With the help of my mentor/trainer, Kathy of ExpertVATraining, I started asking myself the crucial questions I needed to ask in order to find my passion and subsequently-believe it or not-my niche. One of those passions was video production.
Growing up in the US Virgin Islands, I dreamed of becoming a Film Director and Producer. I began pursuing my dream straight out of high school when I interned and then accepted a part-time position as a chyron generator operator then production assistant at the local TV station on the island. That led to technical school where I studied Advanced TV Production. Upon completing my studies, I held positions ranging from Videotape Librarian, Production Coordinator, Art Department Manager and Independent Video Producer. Now in between these dream jobs I worked at a broadcast retrieval company, a fashion website, a law office, a title insurance company and my last position, real estate.
The most constant in my life over all of those years had been my love affair with the art of video production. So, imagine my surprise, when Kathy made me realize that I could bring my love affair with video to the world of virtual assisting.
Being a Video Virtual Assistant means that I am working with clients that want to take their business to the next level. By next level, I mean they either wish to add video to their web presence, or they wish to market their products or services using the best medium to promote ideas, products and services…VIDEO.
I help clients with everything from editing their prerecorded webinars and adding intros and outros, cleaning up all housekeeping speak and removing all unnecessary mentions made throughout the video. I can break down their webinar into separate videos that they can turn into training videos. If my client wishes to advertise a product or service on their website, I can create a custom 30-second or longer video promoting either. In addition to creation services, I can also assist in supporting how these videos are marketed and uploaded to their websites and to the world wide web.
This industry is ever changing and as I learn more techniques or services I plan on bringing them to my clients. If you are interested in adding more pizazz to your marketing efforts, feel free to contact me for a free 20-minute consultation.
